Business forum to focus on financial outlook

19 May 2009

The implications of the global economic crisis for local business professionals will be discussed in detail at a special forum at the University of the Sunshine Coast on Thursday 21 May.

USC’s first Business Professionals Forum, from 5.30-7.30pm, will feature a presentation by Queensland Investment Corporation Chief Executive Dr Doug McTaggart.

Dr McTaggart will reveal insights into the global economic crisis, shifting global business conditions, and how these will affect the budgets of both the State and Federal governments.

He will draw on his experience as head of a leading institutional investment manager, which has $65 billion in funds under management, and from his previous roles as Under Treasurer and Under Secretary of the State Department of Treasury, and Director of the Investment and Financial Services Association.

The forum will be the first in a series planned by the University of the Sunshine Coast in association with CPA Australia and The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia.

Each monthly forum will feature a high-profile guest speaker addressing a topic of relevance to business professionals, and networking opportunities.

Thursday’s event will be held at USC’s Innovation Centre. The cost of $33 per person will include light refreshments during networking.

For more details, contact USC’s Faculty of Business Events Coordinator Julie Flanagan on 5459 4608.
