Forum to focus on Coast’s development
Possible scenarios for the future development of the Sunshine Coast will be presented at the next University of the Sunshine Coast Business Professionals' Forum on Thursday 19 November from 5.30-7.30pm.
This forum has been sponsored by the Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA) and will feature a panel of experts discussing the topic: “Urban Development on the Sunshine Coast – is consensus possible?”.
USC’s Professor of Property and Development Mike Hefferan will chair the event that will include Dr John Montgomery, Dr Mark Bachels and Dr Hugh Lavery as panellists.
Dr Montgomery is an internationally recognised authority in urban design. Originally from the United Kingdom, he is now based in NSW.
His major projects have included the Greater London Development Plan and his work has directly influenced UK government policy on town and city centre revitalisation.
Dr Bachels is originally from the United States and is now based locally with planning, environment and infrastructure firm Parsons Brinkerhoff.
He is skilled in integrated transport and land use planning and development, and has extensive experience in both strategy overview and project implementation.
Dr Lavery is an adjunct professor of the University of the Sunshine Coast and has spent five decades helping businesses and governments generate economic and environmental sustainability. He believes the Sunshine Coast is a model study area for sustainable development in Australia.
The forum will cost $33, which also covers light refreshments during networking. To book, contact USC’s Faculty of Business on 5430 1221.
The University, in association with CPA Australia and The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia, hold the monthly Business Professionals’ Forums to give Coast business people a chance to hear high-profile guest speakers discuss important current issues.
