Managing people could be the key to survival
Developing greater skills in managing people could be the key to business survival and success through the current global financial crisis.
So much so, that the next University of the Sunshine Coast Business Professionals’ Forum on Thursday 16 July will focus on “Strategic Leadership in Tough Economic Times”.
Keynote speaker and USC Human Resource Management Lecturer Dr John Whiteoak said strategic leadership was imperative, both for business survival now and to create a platform to thrive in the future.
At Thursday’s forum, from 5.30-8pm at USC’s Innovation Centre, Dr Whiteoak will outline some leadership fundamentals and provide suggestions on how managers and executives can manage people more effectively.
Dr Whiteoak has more than 10 years experience working with Australian and global organisations across a range of industries, including construction, government, higher education, mining and property development.
He also is a dynamic keynote speaker on motivation and leadership, and has published work in international management journals on topics like team effectiveness, human resource management, and employee motivation.
The University of the Sunshine Coast, in association with CPA Australia and The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia, launched the Business Professionals’ Forums series in May.
The monthly forums are designed to give Coast business people a chance to hear high-profile guest speakers discuss important current issues and to provide time for networking.
The cost of Thursday’s event is $33, which includes light refreshments during networking. To book, contact the USC Faculty of Business on 5430 1221.
