Student helps launch new luxury vehicle
Jeremy Nicholl has put himself in the driver’s seat for the final year of a Bachelor of Business (Marketing) at the University of the Sunshine Coast.
“I wanted to get into my career early, so I went to the USC Careers Fair in March hoping to find an employer,” said the Buderim 25-year-old.
Jeremy discussed work experience opportunities with some of the 30 companies at the fair, including Mercedes-Benz Garry Crick Prestige at Maroochydore.
By May, he was Garry Crick Prestige’s first intern, uploading offers onto their website, attending meetings, and helping with promotions and launches.
“This experience is priceless,” he said. “I work up to a day a week and my longest was 10 hours when we booked a cinema and function room to wine and dine clients.”
Jeremy has helped organise a cocktail gala for the Queensland launch of the new E-class Mercedes-Benz tonight (Friday 31 July), which is the biggest launch for Garry Crick Prestige to date.
“It’s been a great chance for me to see the promotional side of launching a brand new $90,000-plus car,” he said. He’s hoping for a test drive.
Jeremy, a USC student ambassador, said he appreciated the flexibility of both USC and Garry Crick in allowing him to undertake the internship.
USC Marketing Lecturer Wendy Spinks said internships, clinical placements and other work experience gave students valuable practical experience in industries and professions. The organisations also benefit from the students.
“It’s great to get community support so that good students like Jeremy have these opportunities,” she said.
