USC to launch business professionals forum

4 May 2009

An exciting new initiative to provide executive education and networking opportunities for Sunshine Coast business professionals will begin this month.

The first University of the Sunshine Coast Business Professionals Forum will be held on Thursday 21 May, featuring Queensland Investment Corporation Chief Executive Dr Doug McTaggart discussing the topic “The global financial crisis – What’s next?”.

Dr McTaggart will reveal insights into the global financial crisis, shifting global business conditions, and implications for both the Federal and State budgets. He will draw on his experience as head of a leading institutional investment manager which has $65 billion in funds under management.

Further forums are planned to be held monthly, with each one featuring a high-profile guest speaker addressing a topic of relevance to business professionals.

The forums will be made possible by the signing of an agreement between USC, CPA Australia, and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia (ICAA) tomorrow (Tuesday 5 May) at 11.15am.

The agreement will be signed by ICAA Queensland General Manager Simon Grant, the Queensland director of CPA Australia Judy McGrath and USC Vice-Chancellor Professor Paul Thomas AM.

The first forum on 21 May will be held at USC’s Innovation Centre from 5.30-7.30pm. The cost of $33 per person will include light refreshments during networking.
