Nursing Science is most sought-after degree

The University of the Sunshine Coast’s recently-introduced Bachelor of Nursing Science has again topped USC's list of most sought-after study programs.

USC is set to have more than 200 new Nursing Science students starting Semester 1, 2009, following offers made by QTAC (Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre) today.

Nursing Science, with 211 offers, was followed by Nutrition and Dietetics (90 offers), Paramedic Science (79 offers) and Sport and Exercise Science (79 offers) in USC’s top 10 programs for 2009.

A total of 2,095 people have been offered places at USC starting Semester 1, 2009, and the figure is set to climb with a second round of offers being made on February 5. Contact USC on 5430 2876 for advice on the application process.

Eighty-five percent of successful QTAC applicants who wanted to study at the University of the Sunshine Coast received their first preferences.

The 2095 offers for places at USC include 1473 offers to Sunshine Coast applicants, 213 to Brisbane residents, 202 from other areas of Queensland and 195 from interstate.

USC's top 10 degree programs for 2009 are:

  2. Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics
  3. Bachelor of Paramedic Science
  4. Bachelor of Science (Sport & Exercise Science)
  5. Bachelor of Social Science (Psychology)
  6. Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood)/Human Services
  7. Bachelor of Business (Tourism, Leisure & Event Management)
  8. Bachelor of Clinical Exercise Science
  9. Bachelor of Occupational Therapy
  10. Bachelor of Education/Science; and Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting)
