Facebook debate adds to Orientation fun
The issue of whether Facebook is better than face-to-face communication will be debated in earnest by University of the Sunshine Coast business lecturers tomorrow (21 July) as a new, fun feature of USC’s Orientation program.
Two teams of academics – whose areas of speciality range from Accounting to Finance, and Business Law to Property and Development – will lock horns on the issue from noon.
The debate is a new approach from the Faculty of Business to enliven its faculty welcome session for new Business students.
More than 1,300 students will start study at USC this semester in what is a record mid-year intake for the University.
The most exciting day of Orientation will be tomorrow (Tuesday 21 July), with plenty of academic and social events planned, as well as an official welcome by Acting Vice-Chancellor Professor Greg Hill from 11am to noon.
The day also will include entertainment, Welcome Day markets, a barbecue lunch, bush tucker walks with Gubbi Gubbi elder Beverly Hand and games of Giant Twister.
On Wednesday 22 July, students will enjoy a free lunch party and social team games at the USC Sports Stadium from noon-1pm, a soccer competition at the stadium from 2-4pm, and a free movie night in the evening.
