Seminar to reveal online business secrets

24 August 2009

Five expert speakers will help Sunshine Coast businesses tap the secrets of online success as part of a one-day course on Friday 4 September.

The Digital Futures course, to be held at the University of the Sunshine Coast’s Innovation Centre, targets business owners who want to market their products and services online.

It’s ideal for media and financial services professionals, retailers and tourism operators.

The five leading online marketing professionals and interactive consultants say the importance of using the internet to boost business growth should not be underestimated, with 1.6 billion people logged on in 2009.

Last year 210 billion emails were sent every day and 31 million new websites were added to the global total of 190 million.

Speakers at the course will include:

  • Russell Bullen, of the Online Marketing Collective based at the Innovation Centre, revealing the latest online consumer trends and technologies;
  • Steve Huff, who founded a world-leading automated publishing software company and now runs Sixty Second Parent from the Innovation Centre, using case studies to contrast traditional and online business models;
  • Yean Cheong, of Mitchell Communication Group in Brisbane, explaining how to build individual online marketing strategies;
  • Matt Forman, who runs search engine marketing consultancy Traffika from the Innovation Centre, suggesting ways of driving, capturing and converting visitors to a site;
  • Edmund Pelgen, whose business Market Reach is based at Maroochydore, showing how to evaluate a site’s ongoing performance.

The USC’s Innovation Centre is a business incubator and accelerator designed to support the start-up and growth of innovative businesses on the Coast.

To register for the course contact Emma Boyle on 5450 2609 or eboyle@usc.edu.au.
