Equity bursaries for USC students
Three University of the Sunshine Coast students in nursing, business and communications have received a financial boost from the University of the Third Age.
The U3A awarded three $1,000 equity bursaries to second-year USC students Nicole Harpley, Kristen Roder and Kristine Watson.
Nicole, who is enrolled in a Bachelor of Business (Human Resource Management), said the bursary would be a great help. The 24-year-old moved from Wagga Wagga to the Sunshine Coast in late 2006.
“I didn’t have as many opportunities for study and work down there and I wanted to broaden my skills and meet new people,” she said. “I’m really enjoying this USC course.”
Kristen is studying a Bachelor of Communications (Public Relations) and Kristine a Bachelor of Nursing.
At the bursary presentation, USC Vice-Chancellor Professor Paul Thomas AM said the U3A was a valued supporter of USC students.
U3A president Jim Hales was delighted his organisation could continue assisting needy students.
