Hundreds of students attend Careers Fair

Senior Contanble Jeremy Spencer of the Queensland Police Service chats with USC student Trevor Laur at the Careers Fair

22 March 2010

Almost 800 students attended the University of the Sunshine Coast’s third annual Careers Fair on Thursday 18 March.

The fair gave USC students the opportunity to informally network with 26 employers and boost their employment skills and prospects.

Exhibitors included representatives of local and national companies and government departments who provided information about a diverse range of career options for graduates.

USC’s Industry Liaison Officer Julie Hobbins said the number of students attending the fair had doubled from last year, making it a valuable experience for all involved.

“Students were able to talk one-on-one with employers and discuss a range of career and employment issues, including opportunities for practical industry experience,” she said.

“And the employers had a great opportunity to look over our students as potential employees. They were impressed by the numbers of students who attended and by the intelligent questions they asked.”

Companies seeking details about next year’s Careers Fair can contact Julie Hobbins on (07) 5456 5038 or at JHobbins@usc.edu.au
