USC’s Careers Fair attracts 26 employers

Students chat with employers at the 2009 Careers Fair

17 March 2010

Employers from a wide range of local and national companies and government organisations will attend the University of the Sunshine Coast’s annual Careers Fair tomorrow (Thursday 18 March).

The fair from 10am to 2pm will provide all USC students with opportunities to informally network with 26 prospective employers and boost their employment skills and prospects.

The best time for the media to attend the fair will be from 11am-noon. It will be held on the upper deck of the Chancellery (Building C).

USC’s Industry Liaison Officer Julie Hobbins said the Careers Fair would be of great benefit to students as well as the employers taking part.

“Students will be able to talk one-on-one with employers,” she said. “If they haven’t fully finalised their planned career paths, this event can help them do that.

“They can discuss a range of career and employment issues, and also explore opportunities for practical industry experience.

“The Careers Fair gives employers a great opportunity to look over potential employees. Our students – particularly those in their final year of study – have been encouraged to provide employers with their resumes.”
