Global urban strategist visits USC
An urban development expert who has advised communities across the world and organisations including the United Nations and the World Bank will visit the University of the Sunshine Coast this week.
Jeb Brugmann, who is based in Canada, will talk to USC staff and students during his visit from 8-13 October.
USC Pro Vice-Chancellor (Regional Engagement) Mike Hefferan said the Sunshine Coast was fortunate to secure so much time with Mr Brugmann on his only visit to Australia this year.
Jeb Brugmann is the author of international best-seller ‘Welcome to the Urban Revolution: How Cities are Changing the World’ and has 25 years’ experience in urban strategies and the process of innovation.
He also will visit Brisbane to lead a session at the ‘Unlimited 2010: Designing for the Asia Pacific’ arts event.
Professor Hefferan said Mr Brugmann’s visit was a great opportunity for regional council leaders, USC staff and students to learn from a consultant recognised by governments from Australia to Brazil, Japan to Finland, the US to the UK.
“Jeb is sought after by media and all levels of government and as we address development issues across the Coast, his insights will be of enormous value,” Professor Hefferan said.
“For more than two decades he has been devising solutions to help local communities access the benefits of globalisation, and helping global organisations engage in local communities and markets.”
