Gympie students gain $6,000 scholarships

Kimberley Priem and Aimee Tramacchi of Gympie with their USC scholarships

23 February 2010

Two high-achieving Gympie students were honoured at the University of the Sunshine Coast’s recent Undergraduate Scholarships Presentation Ceremony.

Aimee Tramacchi of Gympie State High School and Kimberley Priem of James Nash State High School were among the 55 scholarship recipients at the ceremony on Monday 15 February.

The scholarships – ranging in value from $3,500 to $12,000 – are designed to recognise, reward and encourage high academic achievement among first-year students at USC.

Aimee, 18, who is studying a degree in Occupational Therapy, received one of five $6,000 Heller Merit Scholarships.

These are awarded on the basis of high academic achievement, demonstrated leadership skills and financial need.

Kimberley, 17, has enrolled in a Bachelor of Sport and Exercise Science. She was one of 36 recipients of the new Vice-Chancellor’s Merit Scholarships, valued at $6000 each.

The two Gympie students were among 3,300 new first-year students who started classes this week at the University of the Sunshine Coast.

This record Semester 1 intake has pushed USC’s total student population to more than 7,600.
