Kawana graduates scoop scholarships
There must be something in the water at Kawana that inspires high academic achievement.
Four graduates of Kawana Waters State College were honoured at the University of the Sunshine Coast’s recent Undergraduate Scholarships Presentation Ceremony.
Fifty-five scholarships – ranging in value from $3,500 to $12,000 – were presented on Monday 15 February to high-achieving first-year students at USC.
Of the 38 high schools represented, Kawana Waters State College had the most scholarship recipients.
James Cooper earned one of two Neuendorf Group Scholarships, valued at $5,000, while Gerald Norris, Kate Syson and Joshua Danzey received Vice-Chancellor Merit Scholarships worth $6,000 each.
James is studying Information and Communication Technology, Gerald is enrolled in a Bachelor of Human Services, Kate has started a Bachelor of Journalism, and Joshua is tackling a combined degree in Education and Science.
Kawana Waters State College principal John Lockhart was among the crowd that attended the scholarship presentation ceremony at USC’s Innovation Centre auditorium.
The four Kawana Waters students were among 3,300 new first-year students who started classes this week at the University of the Sunshine Coast.
This record Semester 1 intake has pushed USC’s total student population to more than 7,600.
