Graduate Giselle Parsons

20 April 2010

When Giselle Parsons, 22, walked across the University of the Sunshine Coast stage to receive her Bachelor of Science, she had already walked straight into a dream job – in her hometown of Bundaberg.

Giselle is an Environmental Health Officer at Bundaberg Regional Council.

“Both my partner and I grew up in Bundaberg and attended North Bundaberg State High, so we are happy to be back with our family and as part of the community,” she said.

“My degree played a major part in getting this position and I started the job only a couple of weeks after my last exams last year.”

She majored in Environment and Health for her USC degree and attended the Graduation Ceremony on 9 April in front of 3,000 guests.

“I loved the University of the Sunshine Coast because it was pretty new, well-equipped and focused on being sustainable and green,” Giselle said.

“I started off in Biomedical Science but I changed after discovering my passion in an Environmental Health class.”
