USC outlines property issues on Fraser Coast
University of the Sunshine Coast academic and author Mike Hefferan will lead a one-day course in Hervey Bay for people in the property and development industries.
The Property Industry Professional Development Course, to be held on Tuesday 14 September, is a joint initiative of USC and the University of Southern Queensland to address new risks and opportunities in the radically-changing economy, property sector and property investment.
Dr Hefferan is USC Professor of Property and Development and the current Queensland president of the Australian Property Institute.
His recently released 120-page textbook, ‘An Introduction to Property Studies in Australia’, will be included in comprehensive course materials.
“The textbook fills a gap because it is not simply based on buying and selling houses but also provides a wider understanding of how real property assets and markets work,” Dr Hefferan said.
USC Property Lecturer and analyst Steven Boyd also will present at the course, which will use case studies based on the Fraser Coast.
Dr Hefferan said the course would examine the economy and property markets, explain a range of analyses, techniques and methodologies, and explore issues confronting property professionals, owners and investors.
“Real property is an area of interest for all – individuals, business and the wider community,” he said. “The text, which does not assume detailed prior knowledge, provides a base for a better understanding of how the market works and how property decisions should be made.”
Participants are expected to include prospective developers, property professionals and consultants, commercial real estate agents and property managers, infrastructure managers, investors and industry decision-makers.
