Wide Bay high achievers gain scholarships
The Wide Bay region was well represented at the University of the Sunshine Coast’s recent Undergraduate Scholarships Presentation Ceremony.
Seven students from schools at Maryborough, Hervey Bay and Bundaberg were among the 55 scholarship recipients at the ceremony on Monday 15 February.
The scholarships – which range in value from $3,500 to $12,000 – are designed to recognise, reward and encourage high academic achievement among first-year students at USC.
Three graduates of Aldridge State High School in Maryborough were honoured at this event.
Rebecca Porter received a $6,000 Vice-Chancellor’s Merit Scholarship, Saphiye Davis gained a $5,000 Neuendorf Group Scholarship, and Jessica Pavey earned the ANZ Bank Scholarship worth $5,000.
Three students who graduated from high schools in Bundaberg all received $6,000 Vice-Chancellor’s Merit Scholarships.
There were Rebecca Anderson of Kepnock State High School, Danielle Silcox of Bundaberg State High School and Tara Thomas of St Luke’s Anglican School.
Urangan State High School graduate Stephanie McLeay received one of two Tim Fairfax Regional Scholarships, valued at $12,000. The Tim Fairfax Regional Scholarships are for academic excellence by students from regional and remote areas.
