What makes entrepreneurs tick?
Almost 100 entrepreneurship experts from around the world will visit the University of the Sunshine Coast on Wednesday 3 February as part of a conference at the Hyatt Regency Coolum.
The academics, who are leaders in researching entrepreneurship, work in the United States and United Kingdom, Canada, Sweden, Saudi Arabia, Germany, Italy and Belgium, as well as Australia and New Zealand.
USC is hosting the seventh Australian Graduate School of Entrepreneurship (AGSE) International Entrepreneurship Research Exchange from tomorrow, 2 February, until Friday 5 February at the Hyatt Regency Coolum.
Presentations will include:
• the dynamics of entrepreneurs aged over 50
• the degrees of family involvement in business ventures
• how entrepreneurial musicians use electronic social networks
• the motivations of female, high-technology entrepreneurs
• how deprivation and disadvantage contribute to entrepreneurial success
• the adoption of sustainable development
• comparing the performances of male and female-controlled businesses
They will also tackle issues of financing debt, using technology, forming strategies, training and education, corporate and immigrant entrepreneurship.
USC Dean of Business Professor Evan Douglas said he was delighted the conference would share the knowledge of so many outstanding researchers.
These include Professor Dean Shepherd (Indiana University), Professor Candida Brush (Babson College, Massachusetts) and Professor Per Davidsson (Queensland University of Technology).
On Wednesday 3 February at 6pm, delegates will tour the Sippy Downs campus before a reception at the Innovation Centre. A reptile handler will introduce them to Australian wildlife.
