Exhibition to highlight Creative Generation
Artwork by visual art and design students from high schools across the Sunshine Coast region will be featured at the University of the Sunshine Coast Gallery from Thursday 26 August to Thursday 16 September.
The Creative Generation Excellence Awards in Visual Art and Design recognises and promotes excellence in senior visual arts education throughout Queensland’s state and non-state schools.
Acting USC Curator Yenda Carson said that for many of the students involved, this would be the first exhibition of their artwork in a professional art gallery.
“To be selected for this exhibition is a real boost and assists students into the industry or into further study in any number of fields offered in the Arts,” she said.
“This program has been conducted annually since 1990 and has helped raise community awareness about the degree of sophistication in concepts, diversity of technical competence, and the high standard of arts education in Queensland secondary schools.”
The exhibition is presented in association with the Queensland Department of Education and Training.
An official opening of the exhibition will be held at 6pm on Thursday 26 August. Invited guests can RSVP by contacting the Art Gallery on (07) 5459 4645.
The Gallery is located at the University campus on Sippy Downs Drive, Sippy Downs. It is open free to the public from 10am to 4pm Monday to Saturday. The Gallery is closed Sundays and public holidays.
