Exhibition to highlight iconic Coast buildings

The Building Milestones exhibition will be on display at the USC Gallery from 8 April to 1 May

1 April 2010

A photographic exhibition of significant contemporary buildings that have contributed to the character of the Sunshine Coast will open to the public at the University of the Sunshine Coast Gallery on Thursday 8 April.

Gallery Curator Dawn Oelrich said the “Building Milestones: Sunshine Coast Architecture Awards” exhibition will highlight the depth of architectural design in the region.

The exhibition, which will continue until 1 May, also includes a 25-year retrospective of award-winning buildings and features nominees for this year’s Sunshine Coast Architecture Awards.

These awards will be held at the Gallery later this month.

The public has been invited to a free speaker’s forum about the exhibition on Saturday 24 April from 10.30am to noon.

This event has been funded through the Sunshine Coast Regional Council’s Grants Program and supported by Rockcote and the Australian Institute of Architects.

Guest speakers will be Lindy Atkin and Stephen Guthrie of Bark Design Architects in Noosa and Shane Thompson of Bligh Voller Neild Architecture in Brisbane. Dr Phillip Daffara , exhibition curator will be the Master of Ceremonies.

Seating at the forum will be limited, so bookings are required on (07) 5459 4645 or email gallery@usc.edu.au by Tuesday 20 April.

Admission to the exhibition is free and the USC Gallery is open from 10am to 4pm Mondays to Saturdays.
