Exhibitions focus on the beauty of nature
A crowd of 160 people attended the official opening of two new stunning exhibitions at the University of the Sunshine Coast Gallery on Thursday 22 July.
The exhibitions by Sunshine Coast artists Lin Martin and Mervyn Jefferson are both uplifting and colourful and share the theme of the surprising beauty of nature.
Both artists were present at the official opening, which
featured speeches by USC Design academics Dr Lisa Chandler and Martin Shaw.
Lin Martin’s Reeds Talking, Mountains Walking traces a journey of spiritual discovery through photographic essays depicting nature, beauty and connection during times of impending ecological calamity.
And Mervyn Jefferson’s A Focus on the Invisible presents a series of colourful, atmospheric paintings inspired by the effects of the weather on man-made and organic surfaces.
The exhibitions will remain on display at the USC Gallery until Saturday 21 August.
The Gallery is located at the University campus on Sippy Downs Drive, Sippy Downs.
It is open free to the public from 10am to 4pm Monday to Saturday. The Gallery is closed Sundays and public holidays.
