USC academics spark gender debate

18 February 2010

Are females the stronger sex?

The topic will be hotly-contested at the University of the Sunshine Coast’s second Great Debate, part of Orientation Week this week.

Six academics from the USC Faculty of Business will strive to prove their point in front of newly-enrolled students on Thursday 18 February at 10.15am in Lecture Theatre 1, Building K.

Business Development Coordinator Julie Flanagan said the debate was a new faculty tradition started during mid-year Orientation last July with the topic ‘That Facebook is better than face-to-face communication’.

“It’s a fun way to introduce the students to some of our academics and to remind them that University study is about considering different points of view and learning how to argue a case convincingly,” Ms Flanagan said.

The Victory Cup will be awarded to the winning team.
