Indigenous art exhibition on display at Gallery

Long Tom Tjapanankga's work Puli Tjuta (Many Hills)

26 November 2010

A stunning exhibition of Aboriginal paintings, barks and sculptures is now on display at the University of the Sunshine Coast Gallery.

The across country exhibition is a special edition of works from local collector Ken Hinds’ outstanding array of Indigenous artwork from the Western Desert, Tiwi Islands and Arnhem Land regions.

A close friend of Mr Hinds, Maurice Philip officially opened the exhibition on Thursday 25 November.

This exhibition is being presented by USC Gallery in association with Caloundra Regional Art Gallery and The Arts Park, with support from Visions of Australia, a Federal Government funding program.

USC Gallery’s acting curator Yenda Carson said across country demonstrated the diverse nature of Aboriginal art, from across different regions and media, and also the common thread running between represented styles.

The exhibition will remain on display until Friday 17 December.

The USC Gallery is located at the University campus on Sippy Downs Drive, Sippy Downs.

It is open free to the public from 10am to 4pm Monday to Saturday and is closed Sundays and public holidays.
