Nominate an outstanding USC graduate
The University of the Sunshine Coast is seeking nominations from the community for its annual Outstanding Alumni of the Year Awards.
USC would like to hear from employers, parents, friends and colleagues of graduates who have attained significant achievements since they first graduated from the University.
This could include high achievers in any field of endeavour, from professional or community work to postgraduate study and research.
Last year’s award winners were 2009 Young Australian of the Year Jonty Bush (BBus 2002), Sunshine Coast Regional Councillor Keryn Jones (BSocSc 2005) and Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine’s senior forensic technician Emily Orchard (BSc 2002).
The 2010 Outstanding Alumni of the Year Awards will again have three awards, one each for graduates from USC’s three faculties. Nominations will close on Tuesday 15 June.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Paul Thomas said the awards honoured all USC graduates and he urged the community to get involved.
“We encourage people to nominate successful graduates for these awards so they can be recognised for the significant contributions they are making locally, nationally or internationally,” he said.
“The ongoing success of our graduates ensures the long-term success of this University and its continuing contribution to the advancement of this region and beyond.”
The awards will be presented at the 2010 Outstanding Alumni Awards Ceremony on Tuesday 14 September at the University.
USC’s Alumni Relations Officer Anita Edmonds said previously nominated alumni who were unsuccessful in the past could be re-nominated, and self nominations would be accepted.
