Thousands expected at USC’s Open Day

Open Day visitors chat with Professor Brendan Burkett

5 August 2010

Cooking and computer animation demonstrations, a paramedic emergency response simulation and a mock trial will be among the many exciting activities at the University of the Sunshine Coast’s Open Day on Sunday 15 August.

The popular annual event, from 10am to 3pm, is an ideal opportunity for prospective students to find out about the wide range of programs and courses offered by USC.

Last year’s Open Day attracted a crowd of more than 4,000 people, and an even larger attendance is expected this year.

Visitors will be able to chat one-on-one with academics from the faculties of Arts and Social Sciences, Business, and Science, Health and Education about undergraduate and postgraduate programs, including USC’s new Bachelor of Early Childhood Education.

USC’s administrative staff will be available to discuss how to apply to study, scholarships and financial support, alternative pathways to study, and the University’s support services.

And representatives from Centrelink and the Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre (QTAC) will be there too.

Visitors can join guided tours of campus facilities and nearby accommodation complexes, visit the University’s art gallery, and chat with graduates and current students.

They can also attend seminars about job prospects in particular fields and presentations on how to apply to study, participate in a range of hands-on activities, and enjoy displays by USC’s sporting teams and student interest groups.

To make the most of USC’s Open Day, download a program from the USC website at www.usc.edu.au/openday or contact the University on 5430 2890.
