Greatest Female Athletes on their marks…
The inaugural University of the Sunshine Coast “Greatest Female Athlete” Competition will be held from 9am to 11am tomorrow, Wednesday 9 March.
Six outstanding athletes who are all USC students will compete in six gruelling tests of strength and fitness at the University’s gymnasium, stadium and athletics track.
The women will be put through their paces in badminton, touch football, basketball, rowing, bench press and running.
The event is expected to end about 11am with a presentation sponsored by Nando’s.
USC Sports Officer Rachel Dickinson said the event would showcase the talents of competitors such as kayaker Alyce Burnett, basketballer Emma McKenzie and triathlete Chloe Turner who this week received her professional licence.
It is part of USC’s Sport for Women Week, which aims to encourage more female students to try different sports and activities in a fun, friendly atmosphere on campus.
At noon tomorrow, USC Stadium will host a “come and try” volleyball match. At noon on Thursday there will be Zumba and at noon on Friday will be FUTSAL.
