Masters student keen to accelerate business

USC EMBA student Luke Forman

8 November 2011

An entrepreneurial business executive who is keen to fast-track his company’s success has set up office in the Business Accelerator at the University of the Sunshine Coast’s Innovation Centre.

Aspire Housing Group Managing Director Luke Forman said the Accelerator provided an ideal environment to grow his National Rental Affordability Scheme administration business.

“The Innovation Centre has a great atmosphere with nice facilities and the flexibility to alter our office requirements in the future as we grow as a team,” he said.

“The networking opportunities with other like-minded companies is also likely to create win-win opportunities for all.”

Mr Forman is also about to graduate from an Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA), a flexible study program offered by USC which focuses on current business and management practices.

He said this degree had given him the confidence and skills to lead and expand his company, along with a better perspective of what is required to make his business a top-performing company.

“Since commencing my EMBA, sales have increased more than 500 percent, particularly due to the fact that most of my assignments were focused on Aspire Housing Group,” Mr Forman said.

“This takes the theoretical and makes it tangible very quickly. So it’s a case of learn it on Saturday and apply it to your business on Monday.”

Innovation Centre Marketing Coordinator Hayley Passmore said the University’s close links with the Innovation Centre provided entrepreneurial-minded students with opportunities they may not have had access to elsewhere.

“The Innovation Centre is a flourishing business hub full of innovative businesses, and we connect entrepreneurs with the skills and resources that drive successful business outcomes,” she said.

“If an EMBA student or graduate has an innovative business idea in the Clean Tech, Health Tech or Digital/ICT industries, they can run that business on the same campus they have studied at, which is a unique feature of the EMBA program at USC.”

The EMBA is one of USC’s many postgraduate programs. For more information about what’s on offer, come along to the University’s annual Postgraduate Information Event tomorrow (Wednesday 9 November) any time between 5pm and 6.30pm.
