Scholarship for Arts/Business student

University of the Sunshine Coast Arts/Business student Katrina Nielsen

31 March 2011

A former Nambour State High School student who plans to use her love of history and business to work around the world has received a $15,000 Australian South Sea Islander Community Foundation Scholarship.

Katrina Nielsen, 18, of Nambour, is now studying a Bachelor of Arts/Business at the University of the Sunshine Coast to achieve her goals.

She was delighted to receive the scholarship from the Australian South Sea Islander Community Foundation, a trust fund established by the Queensland Government to support scholarships for tertiary studies at several institutions.

“This scholarship is so good. It will help with fees so I can focus more on my USC studies,” said Katrina, who works a casual job while studying full-time.

“I chose this University because it’s close to home and my friends said the campus and facilities were great. I want to major in History because I have a real passion for my heritage and how the past affects the present.”

She also intends to major in International Business. “It would be awesome to travel and work overseas.”
