School captain starts PR career at USC

USC Public Relations student Elliott White

4 May 2011

A passionate soccer player and coach who was 2010 captain of North Lakes State College has kicked off his career at the University of the Sunshine Coast.

Elliott White, 18, of Mango Hill, hopes his USC Bachelor of Public Relations will take him to the top, even a PR consultant for Liverpool Football Club.

“I’m a people person and I’d love to be involved in public relations to do with sport,” said Elliott, who moved to Queensland from northern England 13 years ago.

He currently plays for the North Lakes Mustangs and coaches two to five-year-olds on Brisbane’s southside.

Elliott said he chose USC for his degree because the institution was relatively young and fresh, like his North Lakes school.

“Both have comfortable learning environments and approachable teaching staff,” he said.

“When I saw that USC had five stars for teaching quality in the Good Universities Guide, I spoke to my school guidance counsellor and found out it was the fastest growing university in Australia.

“I knew it would be a good transition for me. I think this campus is second to none. It has superb study areas, the library and the Co-Op Bookshop.”

He is particularly enjoying the journalism courses within his Bachelor program.
