Coast sporting identities to be honoured
The Sunshine Coast Sports Hall of Fame will induct two new members at a special celebration at the University of the Sunshine Coast tomorrow (Tuesday 29 November).
A good turn-up of Coast sporting identities is expected for the event, which will also mark the 20th anniversary of the launch of the Sunshine Coast Sports Hall of Fame in 1991.
The new inductees and one Certificate of Merit winner will be honoured for their outstanding involvement and contributions to sport in the region.
Previous inductees have included Pat Rafter, Mal Meninga, Clint Robinson, Emma Shears, Brendan Burkett, Grant Kenny, Lisa Curry, Ian Baker Finch, Darren Obah, Kerri Thomas and Glynis Nunn-Cearns.
Media are invited to the ceremony at USC’s Sports Stadium foyer. Guests will arrive from 6.30pm for the official ceremony at 7pm.
The Sunshine Coast Sports Hall of Fame Awards are sponsored by the University of the Sunshine Coast, Sunshine Coast Council, 92.7 Mix FM, the Sunshine Coast Daily and the Queensland Government Department of Communities (Sport and Recreation Services).
