Environment festival to feature book signing
Associate Professor of Creative Writing Gary Crew and illustrator Aaron Hill will be available to sign their new book, Damon, at the University of the Sunshine Coast Gallery from 1.30-3.30pm on Sunday 5 June.
The book signing is being held in association with the Co-op Bookshop as an official event of the 2011 Sunshine Coast World Environment Day Festival, which runs from 10am to 4pm on Sunday at USC.
Damon is the second collaboration of Dr Crew and Aaron Hill. It is a book for young adults and provides an exciting study of creativity in the digital world.
USC Gallery Curator Dawn Oelrich said Damon was a book that many parents, as well as young adults, will identify with and enjoy.
“It is about a bored 15-year-old boy who is reluctantly dragged through an art gallery by his parents while on a family holiday,” she said.
“Damon is then so strongly influenced by the artwork that it affects his reality. He is altered by the power of creativity.”
The USC Gallery will be open for the entire World Environment Day Festival. Visitors will be able to view two current exhibitions Anatomy of the Incomplete by Aaron Hill and Memory Sense by Judy-Ann Moule.
The USC Gallery is located at the University campus on Sippy Downs Drive, Sippy Downs. It is open free to the public.
The 2011 University of the Sunshine Coast Gallery program is proudly supported by Coastline BMW and the Kurtz family.
