Noosa students enjoy express bus services
There were smiles all round as students from Noosa stepped off the first express buses to travel between Noosa Junction and the University of the Sunshine Coast today.
The free USC Shuttle bus services – which are being provided by the University as part of a five-month trial – took 45 minutes to complete the distance, shaving an entire hour off the trip for regular bus commuters.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Greg Hill said the University had chartered buses for this semester to help make the use of public transport a more viable option for students and staff from Noosa.
“We hope this trial will show that there is strong support for a permanent express service to be provided between Noosa and USC,” he said.
The special USC Shuttle service will run until late November and will be available only for those with USC identification cards.
There will be four services leaving The J at Noosa Junction each weekday at 6.50am, 10.50am, 3.50pm and 6.05pm. The first three services will have one stop at the Noosa Civic Shopping Centre.
Return buses to Noosa Junction will leave USC at 9.10am, 12.10pm, 5.10pm and 7.10pm.
