Students are set for Great Court Race
The University of the Sunshine Coast will hold its popular Great Court Race on Wednesday 16 February at 12.30pm, weather permitting.
The race is held each year for all students at the University as part of USC’s Orientation program and generates plenty of interest and excitement.
The Great Court Race is a serious event for serious runners with cash prizes for male and female competitors.
The prizes are $125 for first, $75 for second and $50 for third, and first place-getters also will receive the Dean Van der Helm Memorial Shield, which will be presented by Dean’s family.
Entry to the event is free. Competitors will gather on campus at the service road between Buildings H and I for the start of the race.
Other Orientation Week activities tomorrow (Wednesday) include presentations by on-campus sports clubs and societies, academic information sessions, campus tours, a free barbecue lunch, live entertainment and a free movie night.
On Thursday, the Orientation fun will include a Faculty of Business debate on the topic “That Sports Stars Should be Idolised”, and a “world cup” indoor soccer tournament at USC’s sports stadium
Then on Friday, students can join bus tours of the Coast’s beaches, hinterland, residential and business centres or travel to USC’s Research Centre on Fraser Island.
