USC’s Open Day attracts record crowd
A record crowd of 4,600 people attended the University of the Sunshine Coast’s annual Open Day on Sunday 14 August.
Prospective students from as far as Bundaberg and Melbourne visited USC to learn about its wide range of degree offerings.
USC’s Acting External Relations Manager Julie Flanagan said it was pleasing to see Open Day crowd numbers up by 14 percent on last year.
“It clearly shows that there’s been a general growth in awareness of the University’s quality profile and about our graduate outcomes,” she said.
Ms Flanagan said feedback from Open Day visitors showed they most appreciated the helpful advice they received from USC staff and the opportunity to chat one-on-one with academics.
“Information sessions were well attended across the day, particularly the sessions on Science, Health and Computer-Based Design, and on general admissions and scholarships,” she said.
Civil Engineering and Paramedic Science, which were showcased in USC’s new $5 million Engineering and Science Training Facility, attracted the highest number of inquiries.
“But the traditional general degrees like Business and Arts still attracted a great flow-through of inquiries,” Ms Flanagan said.
Open Day visitors also enjoyed campus tours, plenty of entertainment and hands-on activities, and seminars about job prospects in various fields.
