Rosemary Ndebele chose USC because she identified advantages in studying at a smaller university.
“I like the availability of small tutorial groups at USC which means I get attention from the tutors and having things well explained,” she says.
“The small-sized tutorial groups give students a chance to get maximum attention.”
Rosemary was also attracted to USC’s location in a coastal region.
“I loved the idea that the Sunshine Coast is a coastal area and I love the view of large water bodies,” she says.
“Being a resort area means meeting and seeing people from many different places in the world and getting to learn more about other cultures and people.”
The campus and facilities at USC make for a good study environment.
“I like the availability of good services and facilities at the Uni and the natural and quiet environment which includes the wildlife on campus,” Rosemary says.
She also finds student accommodation and lifestyle great.
“I am staying in student accommodation. It is a great experience. I get to share the apartment with four other people, which gives me the chance to meet with different people from different countries and cultures,” Rosemary says.
“There is a great entertainment area, a gym, BBQ areas and swimming pools. The rooms are fully furnished and air conditioned.”
USC International staff have supported Rosemary and helped her settle in on campus.
“They (USC International staff) helped me settle in the new place I was in, and helped me with making some of my academic decisions,” she says.
“I have participated in the international student meetings. They help one to be social, and you get help with the problems that you might be facing. The trip around the Sunshine Coast helped me know how to find my way around.”
Rosemary recommends USC to other international students.
“The environment is peaceful and natural and there are friendly and understanding staff who are willing to assist if the need arises.”
