New business degree at USC Fraser Coast
20 Sep 2016
The University of the Sunshine Coast is offering a new degree through its Fraser Coast campus designed to develop sought-after skills in today’s business world.
Acting Head of USC’s School of Business Dr Peter Baxter said applications were now open via QTAC for the three-year Bachelor of Business that would provide students with a well-rounded business education.
“Students will learn how to apply innovative problem-solving techniques to business concepts, products and services and have the chance to gain practical experience through an optional internship in the business sector in their final year,” he said.
“This enables them to work for one day a week during the semester where they can apply the theories and concepts they study to the real-world, and build industry contacts that could lead to a job before they graduate.”
There is also the opportunity to apply to study for one or two semesters in another country through USC’s Student Overseas program.
Business students at USC Fraser Coast can choose majors in accounting, marketing and tourism, leisure and event management. A management major will be offered from 2018.
Further elective majors and minors are available at USC’s main campus at Sippy Downs including human resource management, financial planning and international business.
Other new programs to be offered at USC Fraser Coast next year include a Bachelor of Animal Ecology and first-year courses in degrees in Science, Social Work, Counselling, Psychology and Social Science.
