USC will stage 20 graduation ceremonies this week to celebrate the academic achievements of students who have completed degrees over the past two years.
The ceremonies will be held at the University’s Stadium on the Sunshine Coast from Tuesday 6 April to Saturday 10 April, with half the events for graduates whose ceremonies last year were cancelled due to COVID-19 restrictions.
Crowds totalling 7,000 people (including almost 2,200 graduates) are expected at these formal events that will feature the conferral of degrees and special awards for high-achieving students.
The stadium has a COVID-safe plan and guests will be encouraged to follow State Government requirements regarding wearing masks.
USC Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Helen Bartlett said graduation ceremonies provided fantastic opportunities for the university and the wider community to celebrate the accomplishments of students.
Professor Bartlett said it was tremendous that so many 2020 graduates were returning to USC next week to savour the experience of a formal ceremony in their honour.
The events will be video-streamed live on the USC website.
