Information technology services

Standard staff equipment

  • A networked desktop computer or laptop for staff (sessional and casual staff may have shared computers), with a standard set of software in a Managed Operating Environment (MOE)
  • A network account with access to a range of applications and systems, including the internet
  • An Email account, via Microsoft Office 365. When using a USC computer, the account is accessed via Outlook. Off-site, staff access the same account through the Office 365 web app or by using appropriately configured email and calendar applications on mobile devices. Detailed instructions for using the Outlook Web App are available on the Train Station (login required).

Online systems for staff

  • MyUSC delivers web access to email, information resources and discussion boards, and provides access to the University's online learning system (Blackboard) for teaching purposes
  • USC Staff provides access to online payslips and personal contact information
  • Train Station delivers online training on some ICT systems via the MyUSC
  • Wireless access is available from most areas on campus
  • The USC Research Bank is a repository of staff and student research
  • Change your password
  • USC Central is used by various USC staff to manage student administration tasks
  • Student Central - Customer Relationship Management used by USC staff to manage student enquiries

Other ICT services and facilities

  • A multimedia production studio provides services for the flexible and online delivery of academic programs
  • Rich instructional and audiovisual technologies in lecture theatres and teaching spaces assist with the development and delivery of courses
  • Printing, copying, faxing and scanning resources are provided by Print Services
  • IT and audiovisual equipment loans, such as projectors and laptops, are available from IT Services

All IT-related queries, ranging from technical issues to purchase of equipment, should be directed to the IT Service Desk. Your query will then be responded to by the appropriate area within IT Services.
