Future Factor

Artwork: Peter Prasil Electric Chair, 2001Thursday 6 March - Sunday 6 April

  • What drives the desire for the new?
  • What is the role of technology in the creation of the new?
  • What is the 'look' of technology?
  • Will the handmade have an emotive place in the 21st century?

These ideas are explored in this diverse exhibition which investigates the impact of new technologies on design and craft practice.

Eleven Australian designers find applied uses for innovative technologies in this presentation of future materials, objects and processes. Future Factor includes a 'cyber lounge', furniture, lighting, clothing, jewellery and glass.

Developed by Craft Queensland with assistance from Arts Queensland and the Gaming Machine Community Benefit Fund and toured by the Regional Galleries Association of Queensland.

This exhibition is supported by Visions of Australia.
