Building Milestones: Sunshine Coast Architecture Awards

The Sunshine Coast is home to diverse and ingenious architectural design and several examples can be found on the University campus.

This year the Sunshine Coast Architecture Awards, in association with the Australian Institute of Architects, will be held at the University of the Sunshine Coast Gallery.

The exhibition will feature significant contemporary buildings that have contributed to the character of the Coast and a public speaker forum on Saturday 24 April will feature nationally recognised architects to provide insights into the design process.

Participating architects in the 25 year retrospective include: Rex Addison; Graham Bligh (BVN); Lindy Atkin and Stephen Guthrie (Bark); Lindsay and Kerry Clare (Architectus); Tim Ditchfield (Middap Ditchfield); Ken Down (Core); John Mainwaring (JMA); Geoffrey Pie; Gabriel Poole; Robert Riddel; Dan Sparks; Shane Thompson (BVN); Don Watson (Project Services); Elizabeth Watson-Brown; Hamilton Wilson; and Con Zahos.

The public speaker forum will provide contrasting perspectives with the following guests:

  • Lindy Atkin and Stephen Guthrie (Bark Design Architects, Noosa) and Shane Thompson (BVN - Bligh Voller Neild Architecture, Brisbane).
  • Dr Phillip Daffara (Futuresense)—Curator of Building Milestones, will act as Master of Ceremonies for the forum.
