Deeper Conversations: Kim Guthrie and Kevin Wilson

Wednesday 5 June

Join Sunshine Coast-based artist Kim Guthrie as he speaks about his practice and his exhibition River’s Edge in conversation with Kevin Wilson, Curator, artisan.

Kim Guthrie is a prolific photographer who has a fascination with the ordinary. He says that through his work he is “exploring Australian-ness, trying to get to the essence of us as a unique and special place”. He describes this as a reaction to the doctored and constructed images that we are bombarded with daily. Originally from Melbourne, Guthrie studied Fine Art at the Victorian College of the Arts and his work has been included in numerous exhibitions nationally and internationally.

Kevin Wilson has had an extensive career running public galleries in Melbourne, Albury, Noosa and Brisbane for over 20 years. In the last seven years he has principally been a curator developing a range of innovative social history and fine arts exhibitions at the State Library of Queensland and QUT Art Museum. He instigated two key national programs still running today—the Linden Postcard Show and Floating Land art and environment biennial.

Deeper Conversations are proudly presented with the generous support of Chris Harris from Ord Minnett, Buderim.
