This is what our 2024 winners will be doing on UniSC's
BEST FIELD TRIP IN THE WORLD!
Four days chock full of adventure and one-of-a-kind educational experiences in one of the most uniquely beautiful – and ecologically important – landscapes in the world. Did you know UniSC has campuses on three UNESCO Biosphere reserves and the world heritage-listed K’gari? Field trip winners will get to visit all three, which include the Great Sandy (Fraser Coast), Noosa and Sunshine Coast Biosphere Reserves!
Get a real-life sneak peak of what it’s like to be a UniSC student while traversing through some of South East Queensland’s most famous landmarks and attractions, with UniSC experts on hand at every turn to expand your educational horizons.
We know The Best Field Trip in the World is a big title to live up to.
And we fully intend to nail it.
We know 'The Best Field Trip in the World' is a big title to live up to and we fully intend to nail it.
Day One
Get ready for an epic journey starting at UniSC's newest, hottest spot, our Moreton Bay campus. It's home to cutting-edge engineering and tech labs, where you might run into our awesome robodogs and dive headfirst into mind-blowing mechatronics fun.
Next, be whisked to Suncorp Stadium for an exclusive behind the scenes tour with a UniSC sports expert, before taking to the stands to watch Queensland’s newest NRL team – the Dolphins – take on the Melbourne Storm. Cheer your heart out for the Dolphins, as UniSC is their very own education partner!
Get some restful shut eye at your comfortable overnight digs, because tomorrow brings even greater adventures.
Day Two
Travel to paradise! Head over to Rainbow Beach for some scrumptious eats before making your way to K’gari, the planet's biggest sand island and a jaw-droppingly beautiful natural wonderland. This part of the world is an adventurer’s playground, a dream for wildlife lovers.
When you reach K’gari, be treated to a unique cultural experience with the Butchulla People at Central Station, followed by a stroll down the boardwalk to admire the crystal waters of Wanggoolba Creek and the gorgeous, bird-filled rainforest.
Before tucking in for the night at K'gari Research Station, you may experience stargazing, or even some nighttime photography, because the night sky is oh so divine on K’gari. Phew – what a day, what a glorious, experience-filled, mind-expanding day. Nighty-night from starry K'gari Research Station.
Day Three
You may still think you’re dreaming when you awake on K’gari, surrounded by the sweet sound of birdsong. But dreaming you are not, as you meet up with other intrepid adventurers, UniSC Bachelor of Recreation and Outdoor Environmental studies students enjoying a field trip.
Next, travel back to the Sunshine Coast where you’ll be treated to a VIP experience with Sunshine Coast Lightning. Take a behind-the-scenes tour of UniSC’s high performance sport precinct, where champions train side-by-side with our students in nationally accredited facilities.
Feel the Lightning energy at UniSC Arena where you’ll watch the Sunshine Coast Lightning take on the Giants as part of the Suncorp Super Netball (SSN) league competition. Together we strike!
Day Four
Ocean adventures are calling. And lucky you, it happens to be whale migrating season, and Sunreef Mooloolaba wants to get you up close and personal with these incredible gentle giants.
Climb aboard Whale One with a UniSC tourism expert, who will share insights into adventure tourism, conservation and appreciation for the marine environment.
After a fab lunch at the Mooloolaba Wharf, you’ll travel home, thanking your lucky stars for being part of UniSC’s Best Field Trip in the World, having had experiences that will last a lifetime, with tall tales that (we guarantee) will grow with each telling. One day your grandkids will roll their eyes when you tell them for the billionth time of your adventures when you were their age.
Nailed it!
