Thesis Title:
Light, Shadow, Action: Examining and testing the processual knowledge emerging from creative practice and the mimetic production of a 21st century Caravaggio.
Abstract:
This study sets out to position forgery at the focal point of a fictional narrative and its practitioners as its protagonists, and to utilize the characteristics and conventions of crime fiction in a way they are rarely manipulated: to bring together the philosophical and theoretical notions that surround forgery and trouble its practitioners (Baudrillard's Simulacra and Simulation (1983) and Bourdieu's theoretical Fields of Cultural Production (1984)).
