SCHI Seminar Series - 'Stem cells and other fantastical beasts'

Presenter: Dr Georgia Kafer, Lecturer in Biomedical Sciences at USC

Topic: Stem cells and other fantastical beasts

In this two-part seminar, Georgia will first highlight some of her recent research which uncovered the unique mechanisms through which pluripotent stem cells protect their telomeres and manage DNA replication stress. She will then provide an overview of her planned SCHI research which aims to use human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSC) to grow 3D “placentoid” models that can be used to study human placental development and placental pathophysiology.

Attendance is in person at SCHI Lecture Theatres or online via MS Teams. The weblink will be circulated closer to the day.
