The Sunshine Coast is a leading destination for high-performance sports, and hosts international sporting events such as the world-famous Ironman Challenge, Noosa Festival of Surfing, the Noosa Triathlon World Swim Series and many more. We are home to motocross championships, elite sport training and also a hub for innovative fitness businesses. The sheer abundance of high-level professionals involved in these businesses and sporting events makes the Sunshine Coast the ideal location to study Sports Management.

 Day 1
Arrive and check-in to hotel

Pick-up at Brisbane airport and check-in to Sunshine Coast hotel.

 Day 2
Tour of the Sunshine Coast and welcome dinner

Tour of the Sunshine Coast and welcome dinner

The tour provides an interesting perspective of some of the Coast’s treasured tourist assets:

  • Noosa Biosphere / National Park: Home to wildlife such as koalas and echidnas along the protected coastline where rainforest meets the sea.

  • Hinterland Montville / Maleny: Explore tropical rainforests and waterfalls.

  • Mount Coolum: A quick and easy hike to the top, at the bottom enjoy Coolum beach.

  • Welcome dinner: Guest speakers will engage you in the possibilities of your future.
 Day 3
Campus tour, Innovation Centre and sports manager

USC Campus Tour and Innovation Centre - Experience the blended learning capabilities of USC and meet Australia’s most innovative companies and members of USC Innovation Centre.

Lunch with the Sunshine Coast Lightning manager - Have lunch with the Sunshine Coast’s first elite sport’s team manager to learn the ins and outs of player recruitment, and managing training and games.

 Day 4
Climb the mountain and ride the waves - regional sports events

Noosa Festival of Surfing - In its 26th year, the Noosa Festival of Surfing has a long history of creating innovative events that attract both audience members and the best surfers from around the world.

Pomona King of the Mountain Festival - is an all-day event leading up to the Bendigo Bank International Mountain Challenge, which has competitors run up the steep face of a Mount Cooroora in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. The mountain’s near vertical climb is a 4.2 race to the top and back, inviting only entrants who can provide a CV with their running and training history to compete. Only the best athletes from around the world are able to be successfully nominated to participate in this tough endurance race.

 Day 5
Ironman and Noosa Triathlon - world-class sports events

The Ironman Challenege 70.3 -  is a triathlon taking place on the Sunshine Coast each year and is organised by the World Triathlon Corporation.

The Noosa Triathlon - is the largest Olympic distance triathlon in the world and its Australia’s highest profile triathlon event.

Those involved in these world-class events are experts in the field, as they are always being planned, trained and coached for all year long, every year. Their knowledge on all aspects of this event is extremely valuable for anyone interested in sporting event management.

 Day 6  
Recalibrating and cultural experience

Meet with members of the Sunshine Coast Council, learn about the creation and implementation of their Sunshine Coast Sport and Active Recreation Plan.

 Day 7
USC High Performance (HPSA) Program and F45 Fitness

USC High Performance Student Athlete Program - is designed to train both elite and emerging athletes and values balancing excellence in sport and study simultaneously. Students going through this program have gone on to Olympic recognition. Learn from the USC Sport clinic experts on managing this program and their successful practices.

F45 Fitness - Take a tour from the top-manager of Australia’s most innovative gym and training system: F45 Fitness. This group-training gym focuses on creating functional workouts every day – and no two classes are the same. Learn the processes of managing this program at a local, national and now international level, and hear how they’ve climbed their way to the top.

3 Day K'gari-Fraser Island and Great Barrier Reef tour

1 Day Tour of K'gari-Fraser Island - K'gari-Fraser Island is a heritage-listed island located along the south-eastern coast of the state of Queensland, Australia. It is the world largest sand island stretching 120kms.

2 Day Tour of Lady Elliot Island - Lady Elliot Island is a coral cay located at the southern tip of the World Heritage Listed Great Barrier Reef. Situated within a highly protected ’Green Zone’ the island is a sanctuary for over 1,200 species of marine life and is known for its abundance of manta rays, turtles, and unspoilt coral reef.

Uni Skills for You is a free USC course for anyone thinking of taking the first steps in returning to study at TAFE or university and is run over two consecutive days. Please note that this is offering of the course is only open to those who identify as indigenous.
