Primary STEM outreach programs

Our primary STEM outreach programs are part of Make, Integrate, Explore (MIE) Lab. They are designed to introduce our youngest students to the challenge and discovery of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. The programs are fun, engaging and bound to inspire students to continue their STEM journey into secondary school and beyond.

We currently facilitate the following initiatives:

MIE School Years 4 - 6

The Make, Integrate, Explore (MIE) School Years 4-6 program uses technology to raise awareness and aspirations of students to explore future careers in Science, Technology, Engineering  and Mathematics (STEM) fields.

MIE School sessions in school

USC preservice teachers have been trained to teach Computational Thinking Skills using Arduino and can teach three 90-minute introductory Arduino lessons to Year 6 classes in schools in their area.

MIE School Professional Development

Learn how to teach computational thinking, binary, coding and how to use Arduino to teach students about electrical circuits, computer programming and designing projects for the classroom linked to the Australian Curriculum for Year 6.
