High School attended: Tullawong State High School
Degree: Bachelor of Criminology and Justice (Honours)
Target graduation date: End of 2020
My journey: I didn’t follow a straight path at university. I graduated from high school in 2010 and it took me six years and five degree changes before I finally found my fit in Criminology. I graduated in 2019 and am now returning to USC to complete an Honours degree. It’s the first time that this has been offered at USC, so I’m very grateful for the opportunity to be doing further study here.
Career aspirations: I’m currently enjoying research and would love the opportunity to continue on to do a PhD. My main areas of interest are prison reform and crime prevention, so wherever I end up, I hope to be contributing to positive change.
Why did you become an Ambassador? I became an ambassador because I understand that not everyone has an easy journey to finding their fit at University. It’s always nice to know that you aren’t alone if you are still trying to figure things out.
What do you like about USC? I am so grateful for the help I was given at USC to find and follow my passion in Criminology. Without student services, I’m sure I would still be blindly switching between degrees. I also don’t think that it would be possible to find a more passionate and encouraging Criminology department which has been absolutely indispensable to my study. Even though I spent a long time being unsure of what I was studying, I never doubted that I made the right decision in enrolling in the University of the Sunshine Coast.
