My journey: I didn’t follow a straight path at university. I graduated from high school in 2010 and enrolled straight away at USC in a Bachelor of Primary Education. After less then a semester I realised that while I loved the idea of teaching, my morbid fear of public speaking and lack of organisational skills made that dream out of reach. It took me six years and five degree changes before I did finally find the right degree for me in Criminology. I graduated in 2018 and returned to USC a year later to complete a Bachelor of Criminology and Justice (Honours). After finishing the course work I re-evaluated my situation. Being an Ambassador had helped me to overcome my fear of public speaking and university had taught me all of the organisational skills I could ever need. I decided it was time to give teaching another chance, so I enrolled in a Master of Teaching (Primary), with the intention of completing my Masters in Teaching and Honours in Criminology by the end of 2022.

Career aspirations: While I would love the opportunity to work as a Primary School teaching after graduating, I am hopeful that I will be able to combine that career with my passion for Criminology.

Why did you become an Ambassador? I became an ambassador because I understand that not everyone has an easy journey to finding their fit at University. It’s always nice to know that you aren’t alone if you are still trying to figure things out.

What do you like about USC? First and foremost, I don’t think that it would be possible to find a more passionate and encouraging Criminology department which has been absolutely indispensable to my study. Also, enough can never be said about small class sizes and the amazing location of the Sippy Downs campus. Even though I spent a long time being unsure of what I was studying, I never doubted that I made the right decision in enrolling in the University of the Sunshine Coast.
