High school attended: Chancellor State College

Degree: Bachelor of Primary Education

Target graduation date: 2021

My journey: I have wanted to become a Primary Teacher for a couple of years. I have always enjoyed both primary and high school and I hope to make it a fun experience for my future students. I enjoy working with kids and strive to be a great leader to guide my students in the right direction. I was fortunate to be offered an Integrated Learning program during Year 11 at Chancellor State College. As I did quite well, this allowed me to gain entry into USC directly after high school. I didn’t trust myself with taking a gap year, as I didn’t want to lose my motivation for teaching, so I started university the year after I finished school. I am enjoying it so far and look forward to my placement in October.

Career aspirations: My plans after my studies are to head up north to complete a year or two of country service in a location that is less fortunate than most schools on the coast. Doing this, I am not only going to be exposed to the differences that lie between rural regions and the coast, but with the experience gained I will be able to practice and perfect my teaching skills before I come back to teach on the Sunshine Coast.

Why did you become an Ambassador? I believe that this is a great opportunity to connect with others by representing and promoting USC. It will be great practice and experience with public speaking to grow my leadership skills as an individual and as a future teacher.

What do you like about USC? I love that USC is a clean, positive environment. I enjoy coming to university, not just to study, but to meet up with friends and peers. I am very lucky to be able to study so close to home, with university around the corner and the beach on our door step.
