High school attended: St John Fisher College, Bracken Ridge
Degree: Bachelor of Animal Ecology
Target graduation date: 2021
My journey: I completed USC's Head Start program in Year 11 & 12 and absolutely loved it. I enjoyed the university environment and it was a great way to get my foot in the door. I completed subjects in Biodiversity and Ecology, which helped me gain credit towards my Animal Ecology degree. In Year 12, I applied for the Early Offer Guarantee program and got accepted during the last week of high school – and the rest is history!
Career aspirations: After I graduate, I want to start a career in wildlife conservation, rescue, rehab, and release.
Why did you become an Ambassador? I have experienced first-hand the pressure that comes with finishing high school and choosing a career pathway. I was a kid who didn't really have a clear direction and three years ago, I never would have foreseen that I would be studying Animal Ecology at USC. I became an Ambassador so I could share my experiences with other people and hopefully hope them discover something that they are passionate about, a degree they never thought about studying before, or even just to help alleviate some of the stress and worry that people feel about picking their pathway.
What do you like about USC? I love the open plan landscape at USC's campus. During lectures or classes, you can sit outside in the sun and maybe even next to kangaroo if you're lucky. The USC environment is very welcoming and not overwhelming, due to the students and staff. It helped make the transition from high school easy and gave me the independence to succeed.
